The Majlis Series convenes the most influential funders and impact decision-makers each year around a theme at the frontier of impact investing, sustainability, and philanthropy. Each edition is built around a defining theme that shapes the programme architecture across days of roundtables, fireside dialogues, workshops, and closed-door sessions.

Guided by the theme "Nabe' Al Amān: Convergence of Philanthropy, Natural Capital & Resource Security," this Majlis edition brings together a rich programme structure across three distinct but interlocking days. Day 1, is the flagship Gulf Philanthropy Forum hosted by the Pearl Initiative - a curated gathering of the region's most critical philanthropic leaders exploring governance, accountability, and the evolution of giving from intention to sustained impact. Day 2 and 3 are the Majlis itself: a two-day convening at the nexus of bio resources & natural assets, energy, and water resilience and security, where sovereign wealth funds, DFIs, banks, family offices, and foundations engage through roundtables, firesides, workshops, and panels on funders perspectives on various topics including nature-based solutions, energy transition, agri value chains and resilient water systems. The Majlis will also include private sessions, where foundations and corporates are convened to explore synergies and spark natural capital and resource security partnerships.

Diverse Perspectives on Real World Impact: Changemakers at our Majlis

At the Majlis series we showcase what real world impact means to different stakeholders from diverse perspectives and geographies. We presented truly inspirational stories as part of our storytelling workshop by a number of inspiring changemakers and impact leaders. In our past Impact Majlis Amaly Legacy and Global Energy Alliance for People & Planet (Alliance b/w Rockefeller Foundation, Bezos Earth Fund and IKEA Foundation) led a session in collaboration with our philanthropy alliance partner Pearl Initiative to showcase various changemakers from Women of Will Malaysia, Bring Hope Foundation, Jusoor, Fundacion Azteca, IRENA, GEAPP and AlWaleed Philanthropies. Below are glimpses into how these changemakers view impact from their lense.

Keynote: Convergence of Capital as a Source of Sustainable Impact, Resource Security & Financial Returns

After a deep dive into philanthropy at the Gulf Philanthropy Forum in day 1, the keynote officially opens the Majlis by drawing a through-line across all three days: from the philanthropic themes and governance frameworks of Day 1, through the natural capital investment structures and real-asset transactions of Day 2, to the venture ecosystem where governance-ready ventures become the delivery infrastructure for resource security at scale in day 3. Highlighting the diverse stakeholders, their agendas and how the programme is structured to uncover meaningful partnership opportunities that drive acehive financial, commercial, strategic and impact objectives.

Breakfast: 8.15-9 am

Session: 9.00 - 9.10 am

#NaturalCapital

#ResourceSecurity
#BlendedCapital

Panel: Why Natural Capital is the Next Frontier of Guarding Sovereign Interests & Resource Security Strategy

The Majlis Host frames the central thesis: natural assets - forests, agricultural land, rural energy infrastructure - are not side plays for impact, they are gradually becoming core asset classes, competing for institutional capital alongside real estate, infrastructure, and private equity. Funding the infrastructure of natural capital is of great strategic interest to sovereign-linked funds who sit at a unique intersection: managing large capital reserves while facing structural dependencies on imported food, water scarcity, and energy transition pressures. This panel examines how leading sovereign-linked funder are embedding natural capital into mainstream portfolio construction - not as an ESG add-on, but as a core strategic asset class. This panel sets the frame for the day of dialogue at the convergence of capital, nature, energy, and water.

Session: 9.10 - 10 am

#SWFs #NaturalCapital

Roundtable: Banks, FIs & DFIs Seeding Natural Capital Asset Managers

DFIs and progressive banks have long declared an ambition to build a pipeline of impact asset managers across natural capital, rural energy access, and water infrastructure in the Global South. Yet the gap between stated intent and actual seed and anchor LP commitments remains persistent. This disconnect is driven in part by risk frameworks and underwriting standards that are not calibrated to early-stage, locally rooted managers—despite their proximity to bankable opportunities. Without more flexible mandates, first-loss capital, and deliberate seeding strategies, the market will continue to fall short of producing institutional-grade vehicles capable of deploying capital at scale.

Session: 10 - 11.15 am

#DFIs #LP/GP
#ImpactInvesting

  • First-Cheque Architecture: Learn how DFIs structure seed and anchor LP commitments  and what emerging managers must demonstrate to access them.

  • Combining Profit and Purpose: Discover how these institutions provide financing while also allocating principal capital, directly or via affiliated asset managers to achieve both returns and measurable impact.

  • Catalytic Capital: Learn practical ways capital is structured to scale impactful investments.

Roundtable: Beyond the LP Cheque - Family Offices Redefining Asset Management Through SPV Investment and Project-Level Investment

Family offices are moving beyond blind pool commitments and stepping into the driver’s seat. Instead of allocating into opaque fund structures with limited control, they are backing and shaping real assets directly, from agri-processing to energy and water infrastructure. This roundtable explores the rise of SPVs as the preferred vehicle for hands-on investors: sharper economics, direct ownership, and the ability to actively influence outcomes. The conversation will unpack how leading families are co-investing at the asset level, leveraging their networks, and building strategic positions in natural capital that align with long-term priorities - not fund cycles.

Tea Break: 11.15-11.45am

Session: 11.45 - 1 pm

#FamilyOffices

#SPVInvesting #GP/LP

  • Structural Shift: Understand the fundamental difference between passive LP allocations and direct investments- and why family offices are moving toward the latter.

  • Value-Creation Pricing: Learn how to price a family office's non-capital contributions - government access, regional networks - when structuring investments.

  • Direct Ownership Playbook: Explore which asset classes are most suited to direct investment.

Natural Salt Texture

Private Workshop: Family Office Succession, Governance & Portfolio Diversification (By Invite Only)

A closed Chatham House session exclusively for family office principals. Facilitated by a senior GCC family office.

Lunch: 1-2pm

Session: 2 - 3 pm

#FamilyOffice
#PortfolioManagement
#Succession

  • Governance: Learn the instruments manage a family wealth transition without fracturing cohesion.

  • Natural Capital Allocation: Understand allocation frameworks to gain exposure to natural capital and energy access infrastructure without taking on full operating risk.

  • Next-Generation Ownership: Explore how to embed resource stewardship values into an investment policy statement that the next generation will genuinely own.

Pixelated Nature

Panel: After USAID - Can Foundations Bridge the Knowledge and Funding Gap for the Natural Capital Agenda?

The dismantling of USAID and diversion of EU commission funds toward Ukraine has created a structural rupture in global development finance - most acutely in sectors underpinning natural capital: rural energy access, watershed management, agri extension, and community forestry. Foundations filling this vacuum face a decisive question: can they evolve fast enough to deploy capital through instruments - concessional loans, first-loss tranches, PRIs - that leverage private co-investment? Building directly from Day 1's Gulf Philanthropy Forum, this panel examines what that transition demands.

Session: 2 - 3 pm

#IBlendedFinance
#CatalyticPhilanthropy
#DealStructuring

  • Structural Rupture: Understand the specific gaps in natural capital created by the dismantling of USAID.

  • Instrument Literacy: Understand the capabilities - deal structuring, due diligence, blended finance design - that foundations need to participate in natural capital investments.

  • Diversity in Practice & Approach: Explore how diverse foundations from across the globe view and approac catalytic funding for rural energy, water access and nature-based solutions.

Panel: Feeding Nations, Sustaining Communities: NbS, Bioingredient and Agri Value Chains as Food Security and Natural Capital Infrastructure

The forests, and agricultural landscapes of Global South are simultaneously the foundation of community livelihoods and the raw material base for global food, ingredient, and commodity supply chains. GCC investors - among the world's largest food and ingredient importers - are beginning to treat direct investment in African bioingredients, rural electrification and water access, and agri value chains as both a commercial opportunity and a sovereign food and resource security investment.

Tea Break: 4-4.30 pm

#NaturalCapital
#ResourceSecurity
#NbS #EnergyAccess

  • Understand how bio-ingredient and agri value chains act as strategic resource security infrastructure.

Fireside: The $1 Trillion Opportunity: Storytelling, Micro-Communities and Waqf - Activating Individual & Legacy Giving to Complement Natural Capital

Annual global individual giving exceeds $1 trillion, yet the vast majority flows through channels disconnected from the natural capital, energy access, and water security agenda. This session combines video case studies of organisations that have successfully activated community-level giving around natural capital causes with examination of how waqf endowments can serve as perpetual financing vehicles - connecting Day 1's Islamic giving governance session to the real-asset investment agenda, and previewing the Day 3 waqf structuring clinic.

* Networking Dinner follows the fireside session

Session: 5.30 - 6.30 pm
Dinner: 6.30-8.30 pm

#ClimatePhilanthropy
#SystemChange
